Posting images with your messages on the forum can often help other visitors get a better idea what you are posting about, what problem you are describing, or simply make your posting extra interesting to read ("eye-candy").

Before you post your picture, make sure your images are not "huge". A max of 800 (width) x 600 (height) is recommended, but 640x480 is better. Not only because not all visitors have large computer screens, but also because some visitors might be using a dial-up connection, making large images very slow to load. Besides the size, make sure your image is a jpeg (.jpg) file if it's a photograph, or GIF (.gif) when it's a drawing.

There are two ways to add images (pictures) to your forum posting:

If you are a registered user, you can simply upload the picture(s) by selecting the attachment options on the bottom of the "post message" screen. Your picture will then be hosted on phonoland.com. Please note that this is still a beta feature, this might change, might stay or be disabled in the future (with all pictures removed). This feature is not available for anonymous users, sorry!

The second way is uploading it to your own host, or to an image storage website. Many Internet accounts come with webspace, space on the web where you can publish a homepage. Usually it's pretty easy to host an image on such space, often instructions are listed on the provider or host's homepage.

There are numerous websites out there that offer picture hosting for fee or for free (always check their conditions!). To name a few:

When your image is hosted somewhere on the web, you'll need the URL to access it. For example: http://www.(myhost).com/(mypicture.jpg). If you've got the URL, you are ready to post an image on the PhonoLand.Com forum! Simply start a new message, and when you've reached the part in your posting where you want the message to appear, click on the IMG button. A set of commands between brackets will appear in your posting. Looking at the example URL mentioned earlier, you should add the URL as follows:

After you finished your message, click "Preview" to verify that your message and the image(s) look ok. If they do, simply save your message and you are done!

Part of the external hosting information has been created with information from Joe_DS's postings, thanks!
